Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Jan. 22 Contra Costa Times story noted the appointment of new lab director Michael Witherell. The San Francisco Business Times, ExecutiveGovand others also noted his arrival.

A Jan. 22 PV-Magazinestory highlighted a new report on low-priced PV systems. The report, which first appeared in a lab news release, was led by Ryan Wiserand several others from the Energy Technologies Area. SmartGrid News, PV-Tech, PennEnergy and SolarServer were some of the other outlets covering the report’s release.

A Jan. 22 Daily Cal story, based on a lab news release, looked at research led by Graham Fleming into the light-harvesting properties of plants.

A Jan. 22 UPI News story highlighted work led by Omar Yaghi on a new ability to weave together nanomaterials. The Christian Science Monitor and Sci-News also covered his work, which was based on a lab news release.

A Jan. 22 CleanTechnica story looked at the increased value of homes outfitted with solar panels and cited a report led by Ben Hoen.

A Jan. 21 PhysOrg.com feature highlighted a new sky “tour” of galaxies and quoted David Schlegel. Inverse.com also covered the survey, which originated from a lab news release.

The January/February issue of Mother Jones magazine quotes Jeff Greenblatt on autonomous vehicles. A Scientific American article also quoted Greenblatt on how driverless cars may slow pollution.

A Jan. 21 story in UK’s The Independent featured research led by Dáithí Stone showing a link between humans and climate change, work highlighted in a lab news release. R&D magazine, GizMag, ReportingClimateScience.com and EuraAsia review were some of the others to cover his research.
