Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Sept. 26 San Francisco Chronicle story highlighted a new report on solar panels, work led by Galen Barbose. Computer World, PV Magazine and others also covered the report.

On Sept. 26 R&D.comfeatured work on artificial photosynthesis led by Peidong Yang.

A Sept. 25 Southern California Public Radio story highlighted research led by the Lab’s Ronnen Levinson which led to an interactive heat map of 5 California cities.

The latest issue of National Geographic magazine features work by the Lab’s Anand Gopal, Samveg Saxena and Amol Phadke showing benefits of electric cars in India and China. (no link)

A Sept. 23 Consumer Reports story on adding value to your home (including the addition of solar power) quoted Galen Barbose.

A Sept. 22 FCWmagazine story on employee collaborative tools, including those being used at Berkeley Lab, quoted Adam Stone.

A September issue of Physics Today highlighted work co-led by the Lab’s Oliver Gessner, which helps give a better understanding of quantum vortices within liquid helium.

A Sept. 21 Daily Calstory covered the recent Berkeley Lab hiring of three developmentally disabled people from ProjectSEARCH noting Kem Robinson and Lady Idos’ involvment.

A Sept. 19 BBC Newsstory on the history of plutonium noted Berkeley Lab’s contributions to better understanding the element.

On Sept. 19 the Associated Press ran a story noting California will ban smoking at home day care facilities, citing recent research by Berkeley Lab. Many news outlets covered the decision.
