Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

An August 7 New York Times story on a new IBM computer chip designed to work like a human brain quoted the Lab’s Horst Simon. The Wall Street Journal, Cnet and Forbes were among many others who quoted Simon in similar stories.

An August 7 KPIX-TV Channel 5 story featured the iCLEM program held at JBEI and included the Lab’s Shaila Kotadia. (Video is in 3 parts)
Pt. 3:

An August 7 EveryDayHealthcolumn with Sanjay Gupta looked at thirdhand smoke and quoted the Lab’s Lara Gundel.

An August 6 Vox.comstory on indoor air quality quoted the Lab’s William Fisk.

An August 6 Austrian Tribune story featured work on sound waves led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang. GizMag and the Daily Mailalso covered the work.

An August 6 Daily Calstory on a new DOE effort to publicize federally-funded research quoted the Lab’s John Stoner.

An August 1 Los Angeles Times story on a report on the San Onofre nuclear plant mentioned Robert Budnitz, the report’s author. The Orange County Register, San Diego Union-Tribune and Yahoo!News also covered the report.

A July 31 SciCasts.com story highlighted work led by the Lab’s Henrik Scheller to help advance the genetic engineering of fuel crops.

A July 31 National Geographic story on the spike in Oklahoma quakes quoted the Lab’s Ernie Majer.
