Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of July 20, 2014

Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A July 24 GigaOmstory highlighted a new innovative effort called “M37” to be led by the Lab’s Ilan Gur.

A July 24 R&D story featured research into repairing tendons led by the Lab’s Richard Schwarz.

A July 23 editorial in the Rapid City Journal noted the Lab’s role in the upcoming search for dark matter using the LUX-ZEPLIN, and mentioning the Lab’s Kevin Lesko.

And a July 22 Daily Cal story noted the Lab’s role in leading the LUX-ZEPLIN experiment and quoted the Lab’s Murdock Gilchriese. Engineering also covered the story. 

A July 22 Daily Calstory covered the annual arrival of goats to the Lab for fire protection and quoted Tom Price.

A July 21 story in The Engineer looked at work led by the Lab’s Xiang Zhang, who developed a new method to detect chemical explosives. The Economic Times also covered his research.

A July 21 Daily Fusionstory featured work that may lead to better solar cells led by the Lab’s Steven Louie and Jeff Neaton. AzNano and R&D magazine also covered their work.

A July 20 San Francisco Chronicle story on the California drought quoted the Lab’s Jeff  Greenblatt.

A July 20 Daily Calstory noted the passing of the Lab’s Heino Nitsche.

A July 18 San Francisco Business Times story looked at startups moving to be near the Lab’s proposed Richmond Bay Campus.
