Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A May 23 R&Dmagazine story highlighted work led by the Lab’s Eva Nogales which shows the first explanation of Taxol’s success as a cancer chemotherapy agent. Health Canal and others also covered her work.

A May 22 Wall Street Journal story on PV solar systems increasing the value of homes cited work led by the Lab’s Ben Hoen.

A May 21 Space.com story featured work co-led by the Lab’s Peter Nugent into new findings of a supernova. NBC News.com, UPI, Huffington Post, Fox News and many others also covered the findings.
A May 21 KTVU-TV Channel 2 story on the dangers of lithium-ion batteries included an interview with the Lab’s Elton Cairns.

A May 20 UCLA Daily Bruin story looked at recent efforts towards the creation of a Richmond Bay Campus. The Richmond Standard ran a similar story.

A May 20 R&Dmagazine story featured work led by the Lab’s Regina Lamendella on microbes following the Deepwater Horizon spill.

A May 20 Technology Review story on new, smart, thermostats quoted the Lab’s Mary Ann Piette.

A May 20 Archaeology Magazine story looked at a discovery led by the Advanced Light Source’s Catherine Dejoie of a rare rust found in Chinese pottery. The Economic Times and the Business Standard also covered her work.

A May 19 SmartPlanet.comstory highlighted the Lab’s new FLEXLAB facility and quoted Steve Selkowitz and Cindy Regnier.
