Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of May 11, 2014

Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A May 16 Live Sciencestory looked at a discovery led by the Advanced Light Source’s Catherine Dejoie of a rare rust found in Chinese pottery. R&D magazine also ran a story.

A May 15 Daily Calstory noted a presentation on the Richmond Bay Campus at the UC Regents meeting this week.           

A May 14 EarthSky.orgstory looked at first results from Kelp Watch, an effort co-led by the Lab’s Kai Vetter to track radiation from Fukushima. The Daily Cal and the International Business Times also ran stories on the effort.

A May 13 Naturestory looked at the debate over the prehistoric impact theory and quoted the Lab’s Richard Firestone. Science magazine ran a similar story.

A May 12 R&Dmagazine story featured research into molecular motors by the Lab’s Carlos Bustamante.

A May 11 story in The Motley Fool looked at a new fuel cell catalyst being developed by the Lab.

A May 9 Scientific Computing story on computing’s role in weather simulations for the recent National Climate Assessment report quoted the Lab’s Michael Wehner, a co-author on the report.
