Berkeley Lab In the News, Week of Sept. 20, 2015

Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time. 

A Sept. 25 International Business Times story noted how scientists have determined the 3D position of individual atoms and quoted Peter Ercius. The Los Alamos Daily Post and EnGadget were some of the others covering the research.

A Sept. 24 Technology Review story featured work by Chris Chang and Omar Yaghi showing new uses for captured CO2. Their work first appeared in a lab news release.

A Sept. 24 insideHPC story highlighted a new video of the electrolyte genome project led by the lab. The video includes interviews with Kristin Persson, Brett Helms, Vince Battaglia, Anubhav Jain, and Nav Nidhi Rajput. HPCWirealso ran a story on the video. The video was made possible through coordination with the Lab’s Public Affairs office.

A Sept. 23 EE Times story featured work led by Xiang Zhang on an “invisibility cloak.” NBC Bay Area, Daily Cal and the Philadelphia Inquirer were some of the others covering the work, which resulted from a lab news release.

A Sept. 22 Bio Fuels Digest story noted the Joint Genome Institute’s role in sequencing barley to help boost fuel and food yields.

A Sept. 21 Astronomy feature, originally from a lab news release, noted new developments in the lab-led Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument project and quoted Michael Levi, David Schlegel and Natalie Roe. The Arizona Daily Star and Tech Times also covered the developments.
