Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Nov. 14 Wall Street Journal story on a new DOE investment in supercomputers quoted Horst Simon.

A Nov. 14 Fox Newsstory on a US-China climate accord quoted Lynn Price. Stories in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Slate, and others noted previous Lab research on China’s climate efforts.

A Nov. 13 CBS Newsstory featured research by David Romps on lightning strikes. The study was widely covered including by the New York Times, Reuters, BBC News, Washington Post, Scientific American, Discovery and dozens of other news outlets.

A Nov. 13 Chemistry World story on strong biomaterials quoted Antoni Tomsia.

A Nov. 13 Badger Herald opinion piece on diversity in research labs quoted the Lab’s Julie Chao.

A Nov. 11 Washington Post story covered the awarding of Breakthrough Prizes to SaulPerlmutter and the Supernova Cosmology Project, and one to Jennifer Doudna. The New York Times, Forbes, Daily Cal and numerous other outlets also covered the award announcement.

A Nov. 11 HPCWirestory highlighted research on climate modeling led by MichaelWehner. Gizmag, Computer Business Review and OpenScienceWorld.com also featured his work.

A Nov. 10 ZME Sciencestory looked at the possibility of using synthetic biology to support future space missions, work led by Adam Arkinand Amor Menezes.

A Nov. 7 PBS Newshourstory highlighted research led by Martha Stampfer on the creation of “immortal cells.” The Daily Cal also covered her work.
