The annual release of the world’s top supercomputers, a list overseen by Horst Simon and the Lab’s Erich Strohmaier, received significant news coverage this week including by Wired, Science magazine, CNET, the Christian Science Monitor, GizModo and Xinhua news among others. Simon and Strohmaier also appeared on a podcast for HPC Wire.

A June 20 KNTV-TV Channel 11 NBC Bay Area news segment of Bay Area Proud included a profile of the Lab’s Polite Stewart, who works at the Advanced Light Source.
A June 20 Computer Weekly story covered a lab-led study showing efficiencies by moving to cloud computing, work led by the Lab’s Lavanya Ramakrishnan. InfoWorld also covered the findings.
A June 19 KPIX-TV Channel 5 story covered the ongoing development plans for the Lab’s proposed Richmond Bay Campus and quoted the Lab’s Glenn Kubiak. BerkeleyPatch covered a recent meeting on the project.

On June 19 Congressman George Miller wrote an opinion piece for the Huffington Post citing Lab research and advocating for increased science funding.
A June 19 Christian Science Monitor story on a recently discovered Type 1a supernova quoted the Lab’s Greg Aldering and Rollin Thomas. IB Times, RedOrbit, Nature World News and several other outlets ran similar stories.
