Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A recent YTN TV Korea documentary featured work done at the Lab’s Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis and included interviews with Frances Houle, Francesca Toma, and Jason Cooper, among others.

JCAP’s research was also mentioned in a June 13 Technology Review story.

A June 16 Daily Commercial News story highlighted an effort co-led by JessicaGranderson to create a “sensor in a suitcase” to measure building efficiency. The story was based on a Lab news release.

A June 15 HPC Wire story on open source computing included an interview with DavidDonofrio and Anastasiia Butko.

A June 14 R&D magazine story, based on a Lab news release, looked at the use of seaweed to boost lithium-sulfur batteries, work led by Gao Liu.Renewable Energy Magazine, ChemEurope, TechRadar and others also featured the work.

A June 14 story in The Scientist looked at work from JGI on expanding the microbial tree of life and quoted Nikos Kyrpides. A similar story on the work appeared on Seeker.com.

A June 14 Bloomberg story on quantum computing quoted Marcos Lopez de Prado.

On June 13 the Santa Cruz Sentinel ran an obituary for former Lab astrophysicist JerryNelson.

A June 12 IEEE Spectrum story on single-layer 2-D magnets cited recent work done at the Lab.

A June 9 Science Times story highlighted research co-led by the Lab and the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis showing new findings that may lead to a solar fuel breakthrough. The story quoted Jeff Neaton and was based on a Lab news release.

The German magazine, P.M., recently ran a full-page photo from former Lab photographer RoyKaltschmidt in conjunction with a story on the search for neutrinos.
