Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

A Sept. 30 edition of The Real News Network included a video interview with JeffGreenblatt on challenges to the US meeting its climate goals.

A Sept. 29 Fortunemagazine story looked at the Lab’s tech incubator, Cyclotron Road, and mentioned Ray Weitekamp, Ilan Gur, Jared Schwede, Andreas Schmid, and Barry Van Tassell.

The Sept. 29 issue of Naturemagazine included a Q&A with George Smoot on gravitational waves.

A Sept. 29 Daily Calstory noted the pending arrival of Nobel Laureate Eric Betzig and biophysicist Na Ji.Patch.com also covered the announcement.

A Sept. 29 Realtor.com story on indoor air quality quoted Max Sherman.

A Sept. 28 HPCWirestory looked at a step towards ultra-low powered electronics, work led by Julia Mundy and Ramamoorthy Ramesh and recently highlighted in a Lab news release.

A Sept. 27 NDTV story highlighted the development of the LUX-ZEPLIN dark matter detector and quoted Murdock Gilchriese. Daily News & Analysis of India, Press Trustof India, the Business Standard and others also covered the announcement based on a Lab news release.

A Sept. 27 IEEE Spectrum story looked at work on a novel nanomaterial led by James Analytis.

A Sept. 26 Washington Post story featured a report by Jeff Greenblatt and Max Wei showing the US will have difficulty meeting its climate goals. Their work was widely covered including by the Associated Press, USA Today, ABC News, Christian Science Monitor, ClimateWire, Grist.org, The Guardian, New Scientist, Science magazine, ClimateCentral, Wiredand many others.

Greenblattalso appeared in separate KQED-FM and ClimateWire stories on California’s efforts to reduce emissions.

A Sept. 26 Taiwan Today story noted that Ashok Gadgil accepted the Tang Prize on behalf of Art Rosenfeld. Gadgil gave a public lecture on the importance of asking the right questions and was covered in stories in the China Post and Focus Taiwan as well.

A Sept. 26 The Fifth Estate story covered research on the use of ruby red in cool roofs, work led by Paul Berdahl and Sharon Chen and first covered in a Lab news release.Materials Gate in Germany also covered their work.

A Sept. 24 San Francisco Chronicle obituary looked at the passing of Ed Lofgren. The Associated Press, Daily Cal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and others ran similar stories based on a Lab obituary.

The fall issue of California magazine includes a story on a Berkeley clean water startup from Lab researchers Susan Amrose and Ashok Gadgil.

A Sept. 22 Flathead Beacon (Montana) story profiled the Lab’s Kendra Kuhl and her work at the Molecular Foundry.

A Sept. 21 EnergyWire story looked at a report by Andrew Mills on distributed PV. Utility Dive and The Epoch Times ran related stories following a Lab news release.

A Sept. 20 CNET en Español story announced the “20 Most Influential Latinos in Technology,” naming the Lab’s Soledad Antelada Toledano to the list.
