Berkeley Lab “In the News” is our weekly review of Lab researchers, staff, and students who have appeared in the news media this past week. This is but a sampling of our coverage. Please note that some links may expire after time.

An April 9 San Francisco Chronicle story featured work by Bill Jagust, who is helping to better detect Alzheimer’s. The story was based on a campus news release written by Public Affairs’ Sarah Yang.

An April 7 Symmetrymagazine story looked at the development of powerful magnets for the Large Hadron Collider and quoted Soren Prestemon.

An April 7 EnergyWire story looked at a new report on state energy portfolio standards and quoted coauthor Galen Barbose. Solar Industry Magazine, North American Wind Power and MidWestern Energy News were some of the others covering the report’s findings, which were publicized via a Lab news release.

An April 7 Technology Review story on extreme-ultra violet lithography quoted the Lab’s Kenneth Goldberg.

An April 7 Earth Touch News story on the trap-jaw spider noted Dula Parkinson’srole in helping image the arachnid.

An April 6 Los Angeles Times story updating the natural gas leak at Aliso Canyon quoted Barry Freifeld.

An April 6 Scientific American story on using soil to lock in carbon quoted Margaret Torn.

An April 5 Daily Cal story looked at the Lab’s role in the development of the LCLS-II x-ray project and quoted John Corlett and Erik Wallen. KGO-TV, Discovery, ZDNet, theWashington Post and numerous other outlets also noted the Lab’s involvement, which was first highlighted in a Lab news release.

An April 5 US News & World Report story on thirdhand smoke quoted Bo Hang.

An April 1 Financial Times opinion piece on battery breakthrough announcements quoted Venkat Srinivasan.

A March 28 Christian Science Monitor story looked at work on how clouds form, work led by Kevin Wilson, Christopher Ruehl and JamesDavies. The story was based on a Lab news release.
